Wirebirds is the new project you need to know about. This St. Louis quartet brings together scene veterans Christopher Grabau, Sean Garcia, John Horton, and Patrick Hawley. Their impressive resumes include a multitude of full-length releases, involvement in various band projects, and collaborations with revered local acts such as Son Volt, Bottle Rockets, Prisonshake, Three Merry Widows, Magnolia Summer, Finn’s Motel, Cave States, and many more.

They’ve got a pile of albums and performances between them, but this is their first time joining forces. With roots deep in the local scene, Wirebirds is set to show what happens when four of the city’s best songwriters decide to make some noise together. Keep your ears open for this one.

Erik Voeks Sandbox (KC)

Kansas City singer-songwriter Erik Voeks’ music has resonated deeply with a small but dedicated group of power-pop fans worldwide.

His classic 1993 album, “Sandbox” has been often hailed as a lost masterpiece. The album is packed with smart, irresistible guitar pop with strong hooks, melodies, and witty lyrics reminiscent of Matthew Sweet and Andy Partridge.

Now, for the first time in its 30th anniversary, Hanky Panky Records is remastering and reissuing “Sandbox” on vinyl. Often regarded as a “lost treasure” and “hidden gem” the reissued vinyl will The limited edition of 500 copies includes eight demos from the album as well as a few lost singles.

“Sandbox,” was recorded by the legendary Adam Schmitt, and includes musical contributions from Patrick Hawley, Jay Bennett, Steve Scariano, and Nick Rudd.
